This route concentrates on Loch Tay, incorporating a stop for lunch at the Ardeonaig Hotel on the south bank of the loch. It also includes Kinloch Rannoch, Tummel Bridge, Aberfeldy and Dunkeld. Heading west you'll leave the A85 Crieff road and take country lanes to the Sma Glen. At Amulree leave the A822 for the dramatic single track over to Kenmore on Loch Tay. Follow the north shore before turning off towards Fortingall and proceed up lovely Glen Lyon to the north of Ben Lawers then south past the Visitors Centre with great views over the loch. Back on the loch shore, follow the road to Killin and take the single-track along the south banks to Ardeonaig. After lunch carry on the length of the loch back to Kenmore. this time head up to Kinloch Rannoch and take the turn off for Schiehallion. At Kinloch Rannoch you have the option of a tour around Loch Rannoch and even on to remote Rannoch Station. Returning, you'll take the B846 along to Tummel Bridge and re-tracing a little of your tracks, head to Aberfeldy, on to Dunkeld and return to Perth by the A9 |
