This is a short tour on mostly quiet country B roads to the south and west of Perth. You’ll motor through the fertile farmland of Strathearn before crossing the A9 and exploring the Ochil Hills by way of Gleneagles and Glendevon, then back to the village of Dunning and on to Glenfarg.
You’ll begin heading east on the Crieff road but take the Madderty turn-off to Kinkell Bridge then through Auchterarder, passing the famous Gleneagles Hotel and its golf courses. Cross the busy A9 and you’ll drive up (the original) Glen Eagles into the Ochil Hills then down Glen Devon on your way to the Yetts o’ Muckhart.
Turn north and cross the hills again, this time mainly through forest but a fun road with great views over Strathearn as you drop down towards the quaint village of Dunning. Follow the river along the valley to Forteviot before crossing the hills yet again, this time by Path of Condie to Glenfarg.
Your final leg from Glenfarg to Bridge of Earn used to be a notorious bottleneck on the main road from Perth, and points north, to Edinburgh. But now with the slow heavy traffic on the M90, its endless bends and hills are there to be enjoyed as you criss-cross the motorway on your way home.
