This is a short loop south from Perth through the Ochil Hills. Ideal for getting acquainted with your car or for a Summer evening tour. Comprising quiet A and B roads with a wide diversity of scenery within a short distance of Perth.
From the Old Glasgow Road you’ll leave Perth by Cherrybank and pass under the M90 before climbing over into the Earn Valley on your way to Dunning. The road twists along the side of the valley before crossing the River Earn and railway as you travel through fertile farmland.
As you head south from Dunning the steep climb affords great views back across Strathearn to the hills beyond. The B934 takes you over the heart of the Ochil Hills, as it winds through forestry on your way to Yetts o’ Muckhart. Rumbling Bridge and Crook of Devon are next with views over Loch Leven as you almost reach the motorway.
To Glenfarg on the Old Edinburgh Road; this used to be the main route north south, always clogged with slow moving heavy lorries. Now, however, you can enjoy those same hills and bends with only the occasional glimpse of traffic on the M90 as you weave over and under it along the valley on your way back to Perth.
Total distance approx 47 miles.
