Incorporating: Dunkeld, Blairgowrie, Bridge of Cally, Glenisla, Kirriemuir, Glen Prosen, Glen Clova, Glen Doll, Glamis, Meigle, Coupar Angus.
This route takes an interesting and varied journey around the edge of the Grampian mountains leading ultimately to the very attractive Angus Glens; Glen Prosen, Glen Clova and Glen Doll which run deep into the mountains. the Glen Clova Hotel is highly recommended for coffee, a meal or accommodation.
You'll pass through fertile arable lowlands, gradually giving way to upland with sheep, cattle and forestry then bare heather hill, returning through Scotland's soft-fruit growing area around Blairgowrie. Roads are largely good but quiet A roads, while the B952 Glenisla road is quite narrow but very scenic, then some single-track in the Glens.
Return by Kirriemuir, Glamis, Meigle and Coupar Angus. |
